Comprehensive technical study, assessment service for repurposing (Renovation and Modernization) of 2 × 75 MW Kutch Lignite Thermal Power plant Unit #3 and Unit #4
CEEW has awarded a contract to SMARTLùth for Comprehensive technical study, assessment service for repurposing (Renovation and Modernization) of 2 × 75 MW Kutch Lignite Thermal Power plant Unit #3 and Unit #4.
Objectives are as below:
- On-site technical assessment of boiler and turbine systems proposed to be continued, decommissioned, or repurposed at Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station (KLTPS).
- Lead on assessment of the current condition and residual technical life of boiler and turbine assets.
- development and application of a boiler–turbine assessment framework, based on site inspections, review of operational and maintenance data, and evaluation of parameters affecting health, residual life, and suitability under different operating and repurposing scenarios.
- Lead on evaluating the suitability of existing boiler and turbine systems for potential repurposing applications, including continued operation under flexible, cycling, or part-load regimes
- de-rating or modified operating configurations; and
- compatibility with the shortlisted repurposing pathways identified under the project.
- Identify key technical constraints, risks, and upgrade or retrofit requirements associated with boiler and turbine systems under shortlisted decommissioning and repurposing pathways, including safety-critical considerations.
- Provide indicative inputs on refurbishment, modification, replacement, or retirement requirements, including high-level cost ranges and implementation timelines, based on professional judgment, secondary benchmarks, and available plant information.
